Clarence Chaput
Clarence Allan Chaput, 78, of Millstadt, Ill., born April 1, 1930, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at his residence.
Mr. Chaput was a photographer for the Belleville News-Democrat for 25 years, and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the St. James Over 50 Club, a 50 year member of Knights of Columbus Council 1028, a member of Gateway Garden Railroad Club, Bluegrass Railroad Museum and the Millstadt post of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence J. and Florence, nee Morrisey, Chaput; and a son-in-law, Rick Hren.
Surviving are his wife, Doris, nee Korte, Chaput, whom he married on Sept. 14, 1957; three children, David (Charlotte) Chaput of Smithton, Ill., Diane Hren of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Cathy Chaput of Freeburg, Ill.; a brother, Robert (Doris) Chaput of Herriman, Utah; three grandchildren, Becky (Tim) Claxton of O'Fallon, Ill., Matthew Chaput of Smithton, Ill., and Joshua Hren of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a great-granddaughter, Hadley Hren of Fort Wayne, Ind.; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.
